About This Museum
Tucked away on a hillside in Kigali, Niyo Arts Center emerged from a desire to provide creative opportunities for Rwanda's deaf and vulnerable children. Today, it's a vibrant, sun-drenched sanctuary where bold, colorful murals cover the walls and the air hums with positive energy. You'll find the main gallery space constantly rotating with powerful contemporary pieces, many created by the artists-in-residence themselves. It feels less like a formal institution and more like stepping directly into the heart of a thriving artistic community.
Collection Highlights
Look for the stunning, large-scale paintings that often incorporate recycled materials like bottle caps or fabric, telling stories of Rwandan life and hope. The center's most moving exhibits frequently feature work from their own 'Niyo Kids' project.
