National Museum of Interventions
About This Museum
Believe it or not, this museum of military invasions is housed in a former convent where monks once prayed. It stands on the very ground where Mexican forces fought a pivotal, though ultimately losing, battle against the U.S. Army in 1847. Walking through its thick, sun-baked walls feels like moving through layers of history, from serene faith to the chaos of war. The entire site is a monument to national resilience.
Collection Highlights
You'll find everything from antique rifles and soldiers' uniforms to captured battle flags and political satires from the era. One of the most striking exhibits is a collection of detailed dioramas that vividly recreate key moments from various conflicts.

The guided tours here are fantastic and really bring the dramatic stories to life—highly recommend joining one. It's located in the charming Coyoacán neighborhood, so you can easily make a day of it by exploring the nearby cafes and plazas afterwards.
