About This Museum
So I found myself in Izhevsk, which, for those who don't know, is basically the historic home of Russian arms manufacturing. The main draw here is the massive collection of firearms that walks you through two centuries of design, from ornate old dueling pistols to the iconic AK-47s you'd recognize. It's not just a place to look at guns behind glass, either—you can actually feel the history in your hands. They even have shooting ranges where you can try some of them out under expert supervision.
Collection Highlights
The journey through 200 years of small arms is incredible, but the exhibits on Mikhail Kalashnikov himself and the evolution of his famous AK-platform rifles are the absolute centerpiece.
