It’s a place that feels deeply personal, largely because it’s rooted in the life and relentless imagination of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the visionary schoolteacher who theorized spaceflight long before it was possible. You can almost feel his presence among the early rocket schematics and his handwritten notes, which share the space with more tangible artifacts from the Soviet space program. Wandering from his humble reconstructions to the actual Vostok descent module makes you appreciate the incredible leap from dream to reality.
Collection Highlights
The heart of the collection is Tsiolkovsky's study recreation, complete with his personal instruments and models. Don't miss the impressive display of a real Vostok spacecraft descent module and a full-scale model of the first Sputnik satellite. Architecture & Building
Housed in what appears to be a classic pre-revolutionary Russian civic building, its unassuming exterior of painted plaster and large windows gives little hint of the cosmic wonders waiting inside.
