Museum of Military Technology "GRYF" (former JW1068)
About This Museum
Tucked away in the Polish countryside near Dąbrówka, this museum has a secret past: it was once a clandestine Soviet nuclear weapons bunker, JW1068. Today, that same bunker and its sprawling grounds form one of the most fascinating military collections in the region. You can wander through vast hangars packed with hardware and even descend into the decommissioned underground storage facilities. It’s a place where Cold War history feels immediate and tangible, not just locked away behind glass.
Collection Highlights
Get up close to a formidable T-55 tank, peer inside the cockpits of MiG fighter jets, and see the massive 2S1 Goździk self-propelled howitzer. The real draw, however, is exploring the labyrinthine former nuclear bunker itself, complete with its original blast doors and eerie control rooms.
Visitor Information
It's located a bit off the beaten path, so having your own transport is a good idea. Wear comfortable shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking, both outdoors and inside the massive hangars.
Architecture & Building
The main attraction is the unassuming, utilitarian architecture of a former top-secret Soviet military base. Think vast, no-frills hangars and heavily reinforced concrete structures built into hillsides, designed for function over form.
