About This Museum
Stepping into the 'Music and Time' museum feels less like entering a gallery and more like wandering into the enchanting, slightly chaotic attic of a very musical grandfather. The brainchild of illusionist John Mostoslavsky, this place began as a personal collection and has blossomed into a Yaroslavl treasure where history is something you're encouraged to touch and hear. I was completely captivated by the soft, warm glow of polished brass and rich wood that seems to emanate from every corner. It’s a symphony for the senses, where the air is thick with the scent of old paper and wax, punctuated by the gentle, rhythmic ticking of a hundred clocks.
Collection Highlights
You can't help but run your fingers over the keys of an ornate, early 20th-century grand piano or carefully crank the handle of a vintage gramophone to hear its scratchy, soulful voice. The walls are adorned with an incredible array of Juke-Ola clocks, their faces peering out like wise old owls, while glass cases display everything from delicate harmonicas to elaborate music boxes.
