Museo Quinta de Bolívar
About This Museum
Tucked away at the foot of the eastern hills in Bogotá, the Quinta de Bolívar feels a world apart from the city's bustle. This was Simón Bolívar's private retreat, the place he came to escape the pressures of leading a revolution. Walking through its rooms, you can almost feel his presence—the grand dining table set for guests, his personal campaign cot, and even the ornate bathtub where he soaked. It’s less a sterile museum and more a home frozen in time, telling the story of the man, not just the legend.
Collection Highlights
You'll find his modest writing desk and a striking collection of weapons from the era. Don't miss his formal dress uniform or wander past the old wine press out in the gardens.
Visitor Information
It's an easy walk from the Montserrate cable car station, so you can easily combine a trip up the mountain with a step back into history.
