Museo Paparella Treccia Devlet
About This Museum
Tucked away in a quiet part of Pescara, the Museo Paparella Treccia Devlet feels more like stepping into a refined private home than a stuffy institution. The entire collection was lovingly amassed by two local professors, Margherita and Ulisse Treccia, who dedicated their lives to preserving these fragile masterpieces. I was completely captivated by the sheer artistry on display, from rustic pharmacy jars to impossibly intricate 'istoriato' plates painted with mythological scenes. The atmosphere is hushed and intimate, making it a perfect, peaceful escape from the bustling city streets.
Collection Highlights
The real stars are the Castelli d'Abruzzo ceramics, especially the massive 'Coppa della Civetta' (Owl's Cup) with its beautiful blue-and-yellow owl motif. Don't miss the delicate 'amorini' plates featuring playful cupids and the stunning pieces from the famed Grue and Gentili families.
Visitor Information
It's located right on Viale Regina Margherita, easy to spot in its lovely white villa. Honestly, an hour or two is all you need to soak it all in without feeling rushed.
Architecture & Building
The museum is housed in an elegant early 20th-century villa that was once a private residence, so it has this wonderful domestic charm with high ceilings and beautiful parquet floors that make the art feel right at home.
