Museo del Vidrio y Cristal de Málaga
About This Museum
Stepping into the Museo del Vidrio in Málaga feels like discovering a secret. The building itself, an 18th-century mansion, has been painstakingly restored, so you're not just looking at art, you're walking through it. I was mesmerized by the way light from the courtyard filters through ancient Roman glass and dances across intricate Art Nouveau vases. It’s a quiet, almost reverent space that connects you to centuries of craftsmanship in a single, beautiful afternoon.
Collection Highlights
The collection beautifully traces the story of glass, from delicate Roman unguentariums used for perfumes to the vibrant colors of 19th-century French bottles. One of my favorite spots was the room dedicated to Spanish crystal, featuring stunning lead crystal pieces that shimmer with incredible clarity.
Visitor Information
Tucked away on a charming little plazuela in the old town center, it's a perfect escape from the city bustle. It's surprisingly affordable and never feels crowded, so you can really take your time with each piece.
Architecture & Building
The museum is housed in a beautifully preserved 18th-century Andalusian mansion, complete with a central courtyard, traditional wooden galleries, and original architectural details that are as much a part of the exhibit as the glass itself.
