Museo del Corpus - Casa de las Rocas

About This Museum

Stepping into this place feels like walking into a secret Valencia that most tourists completely miss. The building itself is a 15th-century gem, all ancient stone and heavy wooden beams, which makes perfect sense once you see what's inside. It’s essentially the garage for the city's most spectacular parade floats—but these aren't your average festival carts. They're enormous, intricately carved wooden giants called 'Rocas,' some dating back to the 1500s, that only come out once a year for the Corpus Christi procession. The air is cool and still, almost church-like, giving these sleeping beasts a real sense of reverence.

Collection Highlights

The stars are definitely the Rocas themselves, like the massive 'Roca de la Fe' with its stunning golden altarpiece and the 'Roca del Santísimo Sacramento,' which looks more like a moving cathedral than a cart. You can get right up close to see the incredible details in the woodwork and even some of the original painted panels.

Visitor Information

It's tucked away on Calle Roteros, right near the Plaza de la Virgen, so it's super easy to pop into after seeing the Cathedral. Best part? Entry is free, though their hours can be a bit quirky so it's wise to check online before you go.

Architecture & Building

Housed in a beautiful example of late Gothic civil architecture, think thick stone walls, arched doorways, and a cavernous hall that was originally built as a warehouse for these very floats.
