Museo de Las Aves de México
About This Museum
Tucked away on a charming street in the heart of Saltillo's historic center, this place is a total surprise. You walk in and are immediately surrounded by what feels like the entire bird population of Mexico, all preserved in stunning detail. It’s not just a static display; the exhibits weave these beautiful creatures into their natural habitats, telling a story about the ecosystems they call home and why it's so crucial to protect them. I found myself completely captivated, learning about everything from tiny, iridescent hummingbirds to majestic birds of prey I never even knew existed.
Collection Highlights
The sheer variety is breathtaking—you'll see everything from vibrant parrots and trogons to elusive quetzals and imposing eagles, all native to Mexico. The conservation exhibits that explain the threats these species face are particularly moving and well-done.
