Museijärnvägen Lennakattens stationshus
About This Museum
The station house at Museijärnvägen Lennakatten feels like a charming step back in time. It was originally part of the narrow-gauge Uppsala–Lenna railway, which chugged through the countryside starting in 1906, primarily serving local farms and industry. Today, the little red wooden building no longer greets scheduled trains but has found new life as a delightful local history museum. Its platform tells a quieter story now, one of preserved memories rather than departing passengers.
Collection Highlights
Inside, you'll find old tickets, classic stationmaster uniforms, and heavy brass signal lamps that feel like they were just set down. The real highlight for many is getting to see the vintage steam and diesel locomotives parked on the tracks outside; it’s a hands-on piece of history you can almost hear whistling.
Visitor Information
It's located right at Stationsgatan 11 and is generally open on summer weekends when the heritage railway is running—check their schedule online for specific days. The small volunteer staff are incredibly knowledgeable and full of great stories.
Architecture & Building
It's a classic, charming Swedish wooden station house painted a deep red with white trim, featuring the typical pitched roof and an inviting platform canopy that stretches out over where the tracks once were.
