Lanna Traditional House Museum (CMULHM)
About This Museum
Tucked away in the heart of Chiang Mai, this open-air museum feels like a step back in time. It wasn't built as a grand institution but rather assembled to save these beautiful structures from being lost. You'll find eight traditional homes and three distinctive rice barns scattered across the grounds, each one telling a quiet story of old Lanna life. The atmosphere is wonderfully peaceful, shaded by trees and filled with the gentle sounds of nature, making it a perfect escape from the city bustle.
Collection Highlights
The real stars here are the houses themselves, which showcase different regional styles and social classes—from a chief's home to more modest family dwellings. Don't miss the elevated rice barns; their ingenious design protected precious harvests from pests and floods.
