Komiteti - Kafe Muzeum
About This Museum
Tucked away on a Korçë side street, Komiteti isn't so much a museum you visit as a living room from the Communist era you stumble into. The air is thick with the scent of raki and old wood, a place where history isn't behind glass but in the worn-out chair you're sitting on. It’s a kafe first and a museum second, where every object has a story whispered from Albania's past. You come for a coffee but stay for the conversation, surrounded by the quiet ghosts of daily life under the Party.
Collection Highlights
The collection is a wonderfully cluttered archive of ordinary life: vintage radios that once broadcast Enver Hoxha's speeches, faded family photographs, and an entire wall of traditional Albanian folk costumes. Don't miss the incredible assortment of antique distilling equipment and the old state-issued furniture that makes you feel like you've traveled back in time.
Visitor Information
Grab a tiny table, order a glass of raki or a Turkish coffee, and just soak it all in. It's open all day and well into the evening, with prices for drinks ranging from 500 to 1,000 lekë. The best way to experience it is to let your curiosity guide you—pick an object and ask about it.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a classic Korçë townhouse with whitewashed walls and dark wood beams, it feels authentically old and unpretentious.
