People don't just come to the Kamares Aqueduct to see an old monument; they come to walk in the footsteps of centuries, tracing the path water once took to a thirsty city. It's a place where history feels tangible, not locked away in a glass case but standing resolute under the Cypriot sun. The sheer length of it is what strikes you first—a magnificent spine of 75 perfect arches stretching across the landscape like a fossilized serpent. You can stand directly beneath these grand, vaulted curves, running a hand over the warm, sun-bleached stone and listening to the wind whisper through the empty channel above.
Collection Highlights
The main event is the aqueduct itself, an engineering marvel that carried water for nearly 200 years until 1939. The most captivating 'exhibit' is walking its entire length at sunset, when the low light casts long, dramatic shadows through each successive archway, creating an unforgettable play of light and form.
Visitor Information
It's completely free and open-air, so you can visit any time, day or night. There's a small parking area right beside it on the Larnaca road, making it an easy and rewarding stop—no tickets or queues, just pure history.

A classic Ottoman-era aqueduct built from local limestone. Its design is elegantly functional: a long, low-slung series of round arches that masterfully uses gravity and simple Roman-inspired principles to span the gentle valley.
