About This Museum
It's a little mind-blowing to realize this serene place was once home to one of Buddhism's most sacred statues, the Emerald Buddha, which now resides in Bangkok. Stepping inside feels like entering a quiet sanctuary, where the air is cool and the light is soft. Today, its halls are filled with an incredible array of Lao art, from ancient wooden Buddhas with serene smiles to beautifully preserved royal palanquins. You're not just looking at artifacts; you're walking through the very space that shaped Lao spiritual history.
Collection Highlights
Look for the magnificent Khmer-style stone stela and the collection of rare, gilded Buddha images in various mudras. The intricate 'Drama Mask' and old ceremonial drums are also unforgettable.
