About This Museum
You know how some museums feel a bit stuffy? Grad Snežnik is the complete opposite. We came mostly because we'd heard about this unbelievably ancient flute, but ended up spending hours just wandering through rooms that felt like a lived-in castle. The collection is wild—everything from serious oil paintings of nobles to completely random everyday objects that tell their own stories. It’s the kind of place that surprises you at every turn and feels genuinely personal.
Collection Highlights
The star of the show is definitely the Divje Babe Flute, a mind-blowing 60,000-year-old artifact considered one of the world's oldest musical instruments. Beyond that, you'll find a fascinating mix of hunting trophies, historic furniture, and paintings that give you a real feel for life here across the centuries.
Visitor Information
It's out in Kozarišče in the countryside, so having a car is pretty essential. The drive through the green hills is part of the charm, making it a perfect half-day trip if you're exploring the area around Lož Valley.

It's a stunning white-washed castle that looks like it's straight out of a fairytale, sitting proudly on a hill with a classic four-sided layout and a charming courtyard in the middle.
