Tucked away next to the monumental Ibn Tulun Mosque, this charming 17th-century house feels like a step back in time. It's named after Major R.G. Gayer-Anderson, who restored and filled the two conjoined homes with his personal treasures in the 1930s. Wandering through its labyrinth of rooms, you'll find yourself ducking through low doorways and peering into cozy, furnished living quarters. The entire place has an intimate, almost homely feel, as if the eclectic collector has just stepped out for a moment.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the fascinating 'Mummy's Bed', a unique funerary bier, or the whimsical Persian statue of a cat-goddess that once had a starring role in a James Bond film.
