Bäuerliches Wohnmuseum
About This Museum
You might not expect to find one of Liechtenstein's most charming cultural gems tucked away in a 300-year-old wooden house, but that's the Bäuerliches Wohnmuseum. Stepping inside is like walking directly into the 18th century, where the air smells of aged wood and history. Every corner is filled with the authentic belongings of the farming families who once lived here, from the massive tiled stove to the heavily worn kitchen tools. It’s an incredibly intimate look at a way of life that built this tiny nation.
Collection Highlights
The heart of the museum is the stunningly preserved Stube, or main living room, with its hand-carved furniture and colorful ceramics. Look for the traditional 'Schlössli' painted cabinets and the collection of rustic agricultural implements that show just how hard daily life could be.
Visitor Information
It's a small place, so you won't need more than an hour—just pop in and immerse yourself. Check opening times in advance as they can be seasonal.
Architecture & Building
A classic, dark-wood Schellenberg house from the Baroque period, with a steep shingled roof and a deeply weathered facade that tells its own long story.
