Birsfelder Museum
About This Museum
People often wander into our little museum on Schulstrasse looking for the story behind this town. They leave knowing that Birsfelden is so much more than a suburb of Basel; it's a place with its own unique character, shaped by the Rhine and the people who've lived along its banks. You can feel that history here, not as a dry list of dates, but through the everyday objects and personal stories of those who built this community. It’s a quiet, unassuming place that manages to capture the genuine soul of the town.
Collection Highlights
The model of the old ferry that once crossed the Rhine is always a favourite, and you can't miss the photographs showing the massive construction of the Birsfelden power plant – that project truly transformed everything. Upstairs, we have a wonderfully preserved 19th-century classroom setup that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time.
