Tucked away on Cemetery Street in the heart of San Ignacio, this isn't your typical grand museum. It feels more like a wonderfully cluttered library dedicated entirely to Belize itself, where every book, specimen, and map tells a local story. The passion project of knowledgeable curators, it’s a place where you can easily lose an hour digging into the region's deep past. You'll find everything from ancient Maya pottery shards to meticulously pressed botanical specimens collected just last year.
Collection Highlights
Look for the impressive display of local jaguar skulls and the extensive herbarium with plants used in traditional Maya medicine. Don't miss the collection of historical photographs that show San Ignacio's transformation over the decades.
Visitor Information
