About This Museum

People don't just come to the BC Aviation Museum to see old planes; they come to hear the whispers of history, to stand where pioneers stood and feel the rumble of propellers in their imagination. Tucked away on the edge of the Victoria Airport, it’s a place that feels more like a secret clubhouse for aviation enthusiasts than a formal institution. You wander through three vast hangars where the air smells faintly of oil and aged canvas, a timeline from fragile early biplanes that look like kites to the sleek jets that defined modern travel. It’s an unpretentious, hands-on journey that makes you appreciate the sheer audacity of flight.

Collection Highlights

The star is undoubtedly the real Silver Dart replica, representing Canada's first powered flight. You can also get up close to a formidable Hawker Hurricane, a workhorse of WWII, and even step inside the cockpit of a Vickers Viscount to glimpse the golden age of passenger travel.

Visitor Information

It's easy to find just off Willingdon Road near the airport ferry terminal—look for the vintage aircraft parked outside. The volunteers are the real treasure here, often former pilots or engineers with incredible stories you won't find on any placard.

Architecture & Building

The museum is refreshingly authentic, housed in three no-nonsense hangars with corrugated metal siding and vast, open spaces that feel exactly as they should: functional shelters for giants of the sky.
