Azrowadome
About This Museum
The Azrowadome is a real gem tucked away in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. It started as a passion project by a local naturalist, evolving over the years into this wonderfully quirky museum dedicated to the region's unique ecosystem. You won't find dusty, silent halls here; instead, it feels more like stepping into a curious explorer's private collection. The atmosphere is intimate and engaging, full of fascinating stories about the land and its creatures.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the life-sized diorama of the ancient Barbary lion, once native to these very mountains. Another highlight is the extensive collection of intricately patterned butterfly specimens, all locally sourced. The 'Cedar Forest Soundscape' installation, where you can just sit and listen to the forest come alive, is surprisingly moving.
Visitor Information
It's a small place, so you can easily see everything in an hour or two—perfect for a stop on your way to or from Ifrane. Just look for it on the main road through Azrou; there's usually a hand-painted sign out front.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a converted traditional Moroccan house with a distinctive green-tiled roof, its unassuming exterior gives little hint of the wonders inside.
