It's wild to think this entire concrete world was hidden beneath the dunes just decades ago. You're not just looking at a single bunker, but wandering through a sprawling, eerie network of them, connected by trenches and low-slung tunnels that still smell of damp concrete and history. The scale of the Atlantikwall hits you when you stand in front of the massive coastal battery 'Saltzwedel neu,' its giant gun emplacement silently facing the sea. It’s a strangely peaceful yet deeply sobering place, where the sound of gulls mixes with audio tour voices recounting soldiers' stories.
