ARTCADE
About This Museum
I stumbled upon ARTCADE almost by accident, tucked away in a quiet corner of Phayao, and what a find it was. This isn't your typical hushed, intimidating gallery; it feels more like stepping into the vibrant, slightly chaotic brain of a local artist. The space is alive with color, from massive, dripping canvases to quirky sculptures made from recycled materials you'd find at a Thai market. It’s raw, personal, and wonderfully unpretentious—a genuine breath of fresh air for the art scene.
Collection Highlights
You can't miss the 'Spirit House Reimagined,' a dazzling installation where a traditional Thai spirit house is engulfed in neon vines and circuit boards. Another favorite was a series of portraits where the subjects' faces were beautifully mapped out using vintage Thai newspaper clippings and lottery tickets.
Visitor Information
It's located right on Phahon Yothin Road, but keep your eyes peeled—it's easy to drive past the unassuming entrance. The staff are incredibly friendly artists themselves, so don't be shy about asking questions.
Architecture & Building
The building is a converted old shophouse, with weathered teak floors that creak underfoot and high ceilings that give the art room to breathe. They've kept the original structure intact, adding modern industrial lights that cast dramatic shadows across the raw brick walls.
