W.E.B Du Bois Memorial Centre for Panafrican Culture - Ghana
About This Museum
People come to this quiet corner of Accra not just to see a museum, but to walk in the footsteps of a giant. It was here, in his final home, that the great scholar and activist W.E.B. Du Bois spent his last years, pouring his immense intellect into the Pan-African movement. You can almost feel his presence in his preserved study, surrounded by his personal library and the very desk where he worked. The air is thick with a sense of purpose, making it a profoundly moving pilgrimage site.
Collection Highlights
His personal study remains frozen in time, with his glasses resting on a book and original correspondence on the desk. Upstairs, powerful photographs and documents trace the entire sweep of his life, from co-founding the NAACP to becoming a father of Pan-Africanism.
Visitor Information
It's surprisingly intimateβmore like visiting someone's home than a formal museumβso you don't need more than an hour or two. Be sure to chat with the guides; they often share incredible stories you won't find on the plaques.
