About This Museum

Tucked away in the hills of Cozzano, U Mondu di u Porcu isn't your typical museum; it's a love letter to Corsica's most storied animal. You step inside and are immediately wrapped in the scent of old wood and the quiet hum of local tales. It feels less like an institution and more like walking into the workshop of a master 'porcaghju' who has gathered a lifetime of tools and stories. This is where you truly grasp how the pig wasn't just livestock, but the very heart of a family's survival and celebration.

Collection Highlights

You'll find everything from the heavy cast-iron cauldrons used for rendering lard to the beautiful, hand-forged knives for the 'tribbiu', the autumn slaughter. One of my favorite corners is the recreated smoking shed, its beams still dark with generations of smoke, which tells you more about flavor than any textbook ever could.

Visitor Information

It's best to call ahead if you're making a special trip, as their hours can be as relaxed as the village itself. Don't be shy to ask questions—the folks here light up when they get to share these stories.

Architecture & Building

Housed in a traditional Corsican stone building with thick walls and a slate roof, it feels as much a part of the landscape as the chestnut trees surrounding it.
