It all started in a humble Red Barn, the original Boeing factory on the banks of the Duwamish River. Today, the Museum of Flight has blossomed into a sprawling cathedral to aviation ambition, where the whispers of history echo off the wings of legendary aircraft. You can walk right under the menacing silhouette of a Blackbird spy plane, its dark form stretching an impossible 107 feet, and then step aboard the very Air Force One that flew presidents around the globe. It’s a place that doesn't just show you planes; it drops you right into the narrative of flight itself.
Collection Highlights
The Great Gallery is breathtaking, a forest of suspended aircraft from a fragile-looking 1903 Wright Flyer replica to the sleek, impossible speed of the M-21 Blackbird. Don't miss walking through the retired Concorde and the original Air Force One, or getting up close to a full-scale mockup of the Space Shuttle Trainer astronauts used to practice for missions.
Visitor Information
Give yourself a good half-day here, as there's an overwhelming amount to see across multiple buildings. It's located right next to Boeing Field, so you'll often see modern jets taking off and landing, adding to the live-action feel.
