You'll begin surrounded by ancient rock formations and mammoth bones, then move into a stunning collection of Lakota Sioux beadwork and star quilts that feel deeply personal. Further on, the whispers of the Gold Rush era come alive with artifacts from Deadwood's rough-and-tumble early days.
Visitor Information
It's easy to find right off St. Joseph Street, and you'll want to give yourself a good two or three hours to do it justice. The staff are wonderfully knowledgeable locals, always happy to point you toward their favorite corner or share a story you won't read on the plaques.

The building itself is modern and unassuming from the outside, but inside it's cleverly designed so that your path through the galleries mirrors the chronological journey through time.
