Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum
About This Museum
You might not know this, but the very first Texas Rangers weren't issued uniforms; they were just men with a badge and a sense of purpose, expected to supply their own horse and gun. That's the kind of raw, human story you'll find here, tucked away near the banks of the Brazos River. It’s far more than a museum; it feels like walking through the dusty pages of our state's most thrilling and complex chapters. From Comanche wars to Bonnie and Clyde, the entire saga is told through the personal possessions of the Rangers themselves.
Collection Highlights
You can stand face-to-face with the shotgun used by Ranger Manuel 'Lone Wolf' Gonzaullas and see one of the infamous 'white ghost' Ford Model Ts used by bank robbers. Don't miss Captain Bill McDonald's Colt revolver—the very one he famously claimed was all he needed to keep order.
Visitor Information
It's easy to find, right off I-35 in Waco—just look for the big stone building that feels like it has its own stories to tell. Give yourself a good two or three hours if you want to read all the letters and really soak it in.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is a formidable piece of Texas limestone, low-slung and sturdy like a fort, with a design that nods to the Spanish missions that once dotted this land.
