Termes-d'Armagnac Tower
About This Museum
So we followed this winding road through the sunflower fields and suddenly, this massive stone tower just appeared on the hill. It's all that remains of a 13th-century castle that was once the heart of the powerful Armagnac family's domain. Climbing the worn spiral staircase to the top, you get these breathtaking, sweeping views of the Gers countryside that make you feel like you've stepped right into a history book. The whole place has this wonderfully peaceful, almost forgotten feel to it.
Collection Highlights
The main event is definitely climbing the tower itself and discovering its history through simple panels. Up at the very top, there's a fascinating exhibit on medieval music with instruments you can actually try to play—the acoustics in that ancient space are incredible.
Visitor Information
It's a bit off the beaten path but so worth the detour; just look for the signs in the village of Termes-d'Armagnac. Wear good shoes for that spiral staircase!
Architecture & Building
It's a classic, imposing medieval keep built from warm, golden stone, standing stark and solitary against the sky.
