TeddyVille Kingdom Museum
About This Museum
Tucked away on the upper floors of a charming heritage shophouse in George Town, TeddyVille isn't your average museum; it's a wonderfully whimsical kingdom where history is told through the most endearing of narrators: teddy bears. You'll find everything from a scene of bears building the Penang Bridge to a miniature bear-sized kopitiam, each diorama crafted with incredible attention to detail. It’s this playful storytelling that completely charmed me and made the history of Penang feel so alive and personal. Honestly, it’s an absolute delight for the young and the young at heart.
Collection Highlights
Look for the grand 'Teddyville Kingdom' castle entrance and the surprisingly moving tribute to Sir Stamford Raffles, complete with his own bespectacled bear companion. Don't miss their collection of antique Steiff bears, which gives you a lovely look at the real history behind these cuddly icons.
Visitor Information
Be prepared for a steep, narrow staircase up to the museum—it's all part of the classic shophouse charm! It's a fairly compact space, so you can easily soak up all the cuteness in under an hour, making it a perfect stop between exploring George Town's street art and hunting for lunch.
Architecture & Building
The museum is housed within a beautifully preserved pre-war shophouse, typical of George Town's UNESCO World Heritage site, with high ceilings, tall windows, and that wonderfully weathered facade that gives it so much character.
