Southern Arizona Transportation Museum
About This Museum
What truly sets this museum apart is its location right in the heart of downtown, where the whistle of a modern Amtrak train might echo the history displayed just outside. Housed in the city's beautifully restored 1941 Southern Pacific Railroad Depot, itβs a small but mighty tribute to the era when railroads built the West. You can't miss 'Old Pueblo 1679,' a massive 1900 steam locomotive permanently parked on the tracks, offering a perfect photo op. Inside, the past comes alive through vintage photographs, telegraph equipment, and artifacts that tell Tucson's specific story of growth and connection.
