Believe it or not, one of the world's most inspiring museums is tucked away next to a UPDF barracks in Mpigi Town. It’s a place that completely redefines what a museum can be, focusing not on ancient artifacts but on living, breathing social change. You won't find dusty displays here; instead, you'll discover the powerful stories of refugees and marginalized youth who have become entrepreneurs. The entire space feels more like a vibrant community workshop than a silent hall, pulsating with the energy of ideas being put into action.
Collection Highlights
The 'collections' are the ventures themselves—from upcycled fashion brands born in a refugee settlement to affordable solar lamp companies. Each exhibit tells the raw, human story of a community member who turned a pressing problem into a sustainable business, with their actual prototypes and project plans on display.
Visitor Information
You'll find it at the Social Innovation Academy (SINA), right between Nsamizi Institute and the barracks—it's a bit of an adventure to find, but absolutely worth it. Don't expect a traditional ticket booth; it's best to reach out beforehand as the experience is often interactive and guided by the innovators themselves.
