Romsdal Museum
About This Museum
So I'm here in Molde, right by the fjord, and stumbled upon this incredible place called the Romsdal Museum. It's a total time machine! You start in this sleek, modern building full of artifacts, then step outside into a whole village of historic houses and farmsteads they've moved here. I spent ages just peeking into the old wooden cabins with their turf roofs and imagining life back then. It really makes you feel like you've walked straight into the past.
Collection Highlights
The open-air section is the real star, with over 50 historic buildings including a stunning stave church replica and authentic farmsteads. Inside the main building, you'll find beautifully crafted folk costumes, traditional boats, and exhibits on everything from local crafts to fishing history.
Visitor Information
It's super easy to find at Per Amdams veg 4 in Molde. Definitely check their website for opening times before you go as they change with the seasons. Wear comfy shoes because you'll want to explore every inch of that outdoor village!
Architecture & Building
A really interesting mix of a clean, contemporary main building with lots of glass and sharp angles, contrasted with the rustic charm of the historic timber and turf-roofed buildings in the open-air section.
