About This Museum

Tucked away in the sun-drenched hills of Cagnes-sur-Mer, the Renoir Museum feels less like a formal institution and more like you've been welcomed into the artist's home—because you have. This was his final residence, where he lived and painted until his death in 1919, surrounded by the olive groves he loved to paint. Wandering through the intimate rooms, you can almost feel his presence, especially in the atelier where his original easel and paintbrushes sit waiting, as if he just stepped out for a moment. It’s a profoundly personal glimpse into the last chapter of a master's life.

Collection Highlights

The heart of the visit is seeing Renoir's personal atelier, preserved with his wheelchair, easel, and brushes exactly as he left them. Beyond that, several of his bronze sculptures and later paintings are displayed throughout the charmingly furnished drawing room and bedroom.
