Regional Museum Jagodina
About This Museum
Tucked away on a quiet street in the heart of Šumadija, our Regional Museum is a real keeper of local stories. It's the kind of place where you can easily lose an afternoon, piecing together the lives that shaped this region from prehistoric times right up to the last century. The building itself has a certain old-world charm, standing as a silent witness to decades of change in Jagodina. It feels less like a formal institution and more like a knowledgeable neighbor eager to share what they've collected over the years.
Collection Highlights
You absolutely must see the Roman-era 'Jagodina Sphinx,' a mysterious stone head found nearby. The ethnographic section is wonderfully personal, filled with intricate folk costumes and the tools of daily life that show how people really lived here. And for something completely different, their collection of naive art by Ilija Bašičević is bursting with raw, colorful energy.
