People come to the REACH Museum to really get a feel for this unique part of Washington, where ancient geology and modern history collide in the most fascinating ways. You can spend an hour wandering through exhibits on the Ice Age floods that carved out the landscape, then turn a corner and be immersed in the top-secret stories of the Manhattan Project. It’s not a stuffy, quiet place at all—it feels alive and deeply connected to the land it sits on. By the end, you walk out with a whole new understanding of how the river, the rocks, and human ingenuity are all woven together here.
Collection Highlights
The massive mammoth skull is a showstopper, but I was totally captivated by the detailed models showing how those epic Ice Age floods reshaped everything. The Hanford Reach and Manhattan Project exhibits are also must-sees, telling a powerful local story.
Visitor Information
It's super easy to find right off Columbia Park Trail—you can't miss it. After your visit, definitely take a walk along the river path; it makes everything you just learned inside feel even more real.
