Range Riders Museum
About This Museum
Let's be honest, you don't expect to find a museum this massive and packed with history right off the interstate in eastern Montana. The Range Riders Museum is a sprawling, wonderfully chaotic love letter to the men and women who tamed this land, and it feels more like exploring a giant, organized attic than a sterile gallery. You'll find everything from fully-stocked pioneer cabins and a one-room schoolhouse to an incredible collection of firearms and vintage wagons. It’s the kind of place where you can easily lose an entire afternoon just marveling at the sheer volume of stories held within its walls.
Collection Highlights
The firearm collection is staggering, with over 1,000 guns meticulously displayed. Don't miss the authentic teepees and the vast exhibit on local cattle brands that tells the story of the region's ranching soul. The Hall of Honorees pays personal tribute to individual range riders with photos and artifacts that make the history feel immediate.
Visitor Information
Give yourself a good couple of hours here—there's so much to see it's almost overwhelming. It's super easy to find, literally right on the business loop coming into Miles City, and there's plenty of parking for RVs if you're road-tripping.
Architecture & Building
From the outside, it's a series of no-frills, rustic buildings that look like they've been added onto over the decades, giving it a genuine, unpretentious feel that perfectly suits its subject matter.
