Perlan
About This Museum
Well now, the story of Perlan isn't one of ancient sagas, but a more modern tale of civic ingenuity. It all started up on Öskjuhlíð hill, where the city's water tanks were cleverly disguised. Someone had the bright idea to cap them with a glittering glass dome, and just like that, a landmark was born. Today, it’s this wonderful, futuristic place that seems to both watch over Reykjavík and reflect the sky itself.
Collection Highlights
The real star is Iceland itself, seen from the outdoor viewing platform that wraps around the dome. Inside, you'll find a beautiful indoor ice cave and a wintery wonderland exhibit that lets you experience a glacier year-round. And of course, the whole building slowly revolves, making the cityscape and mountains beyond your ever-changing centrepiece.
Visitor Information
You can pop in for a coffee and a stunning view without a fuss, or book ahead for a fine dining experience as the city turns below you. It's set right in the middle of a wooded park, perfect for a stroll before or after your visit.
