About This Museum

You can literally feel the history here, standing in a hangar that still bears the scars from the attack on Pearl Harbor. It's not just a museum; it's a time capsule where you're surrounded by the actual aircraft that defined the Pacific theater of WWII. The air is thick with stories, from the roar of a rare B-17 Flying Fortress to the sleek silhouette of a Japanese Zero. They even have a flight simulator that lets you experience what it was like in the cockpit during those intense dogfights.

Collection Highlights

You'll get up close to an authentic B-17 Flying Fortress 'Swamp Ghost,' see a Japanese A6M Zero fighter, and walk beneath the massive wings of an SBD Dauntless dive bomber. The exhibits are personal, too, filled with letters and artifacts from the men and women who were there.

Visitor Information

Wear comfortable shoes because you'll be exploring two huge historic hangars. Definitely book your tickets online ahead of time, especially during peak seasonβ€”it saves you waiting in line. And give yourself at least a good two to three hours to really take it all in.

Architecture & Building

The heart of the museum is inside Hangars 37 and 79, which are original structures from the Ford Island naval base. You can still see patched-up bullet holes in the steel beams, which is just incredibly powerful.
