Paseo del Mar
About This Museum
You'd never guess it now, but this breezy plaza and ferry terminal was once the very spot where American seaplanes landed in the 1920s. The museum itself is a low-slung, elegant structure that feels both modern and deeply rooted in its seaside location. It doesn't just tell history; it sits right on top of it, with Fort Pilar's ancient walls literally next door. Inside, the air is cool and salty, and the stories flow as easily as the conversations at the fish joints outside.
Collection Highlights
Look for the stunning vintas model with their colorful sails, vintage photos of old Zamboanga, and an entire section dedicated to the intricate art of Yakan weaving. You can almost hear the hum of those early aircraft and feel the texture of the hand-loomed fabric.
Visitor Information
Come for a quick museum stop, then grab a grilled tuna panga at one of the nearby stalls while you watch the ferries come and go from Santa Cruz Island. It's all right here in one spot.
Architecture & Building
A clean, contemporary building designed with lots of open spaces and large windows to frame the sea views, echoing the traditional coastal architecture of the region without directly copying it.
