Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum
About This Museum
People come here, to the very edge of Pearl Harbor, not just to see a museum but to touch a piece of living history. They walk the narrow, creaking deck of the USS Bowfin, a real WWII submarine that still smells faintly of oil and old steel. Inside, it's all tight corridors and cramped bunks, a tangible reminder of the courage it took for 80 men to live and fight beneath the waves. You leave with a profound respect for the Silent Service and the weight of the stories these waters hold.
Collection Highlights
The heart of it is touring the USS Bowfin itself, from its forward torpedo room to the claustrophobic engine spaces. You'll also find fascinating artifacts like a Mark 14 torpedo and personal items from the crew, plus outdoor exhibits showcasing more modern naval might.
Visitor Information
It's right there next to the Arizona Memorial visitor center, so you can easily make a day of it. Just be ready to do some bending and squeezing if you want to explore the sub's interior—it’s not for the faint of claustrophobia!
Architecture & Building
The main attraction isn't a building at all, but the historic WWII-era Balao-class submarine USS Bowfin, permanently moored and looking every bit the part of a battle-tested veteran.
