Narlıkuyu Museum
About This Museum
Tucked away in the charming coastal village of Narlıkuyu, just a stone's throw from the turquoise Mediterranean, this little museum is a true hidden gem. It sits right at the entrance to the breathtaking Cennet ve Cehennem (Heaven and Hell) caves, making it the perfect starting point for an exploration of ancient history. The star of the show is undoubtedly the magnificent 'Three Graces' mosaic, a stunningly preserved Roman floor depicting the daughters of Zeus with incredible color and detail. You can almost feel the presence of the Roman-era bathers who once walked these very floors after cleansing themselves in the nearby sacred spring.
Collection Highlights
The centerpiece is the original, in-situ 'Three Graces' mosaic from the 4th century AD, discovered alongside artifacts from the adjacent Temple of Zeus. Other finds include pottery, coins, and inscriptions that paint a vivid picture of daily life and religious practices here two millennia ago.
Visitor Information
It's a small museum, so you won't need more than half an hour, but it's absolutely worth stopping for before or after you descend into the caves. Since it's a popular stop for tour buses, popping in during midday might mean you have more space to admire the mosaic in peace.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a modest, modern building designed to protect and showcase its main exhibit—the ancient mosaic floor—right where it was unearthed.
