Museum of the Palace of the Parliament

About This Museum

You won't believe this, but the building this museum is inside of is the second largest administrative building in the entire world, after the Pentagon. It feels like stepping into a colossal, marble-clad city all its own, with endless hallways and soaring ceilings that just swallow you whole. The museum itself carves out a small section of this behemoth to tell the wild story of its own creation during Ceaușescu's era. You get to see everything from early architectural plans and scale models to glimpses into the lavish, almost absurdly opulent rooms that were designed for state functions.

Collection Highlights

Look for the incredibly detailed miniature model of the entire palace complex—it really puts the sheer scale into perspective. Don't miss peeking into the opulently furnished reception halls, which still feel frozen in time.

Visitor Information

Heads up, you can't just wander in; you have to book a guided tour, and bring your passport or ID card for security. It's located on Izvor Street, and trust me, you can't miss the building.

Architecture & Building

A monumental and overwhelming example of Stalinist and Neoclassical architecture, built almost entirely with Romanian materials like marble, oak, and crystal.
