Museum of Glass
About This Museum
You won't believe it, but the main attraction here is a massive, shimmering stainless steel cone that looks like it landed from another planet. Inside that very cone, you can watch real artists wrestle with molten glass in a fiery hot studio—it's absolutely mesmerizing. The galleries are just as wild, filled with everything from delicate, colorful sculptures to huge installations that play with light in the most incredible ways. And don't even get me started on the outdoor bridge covered in vibrant glass chunks by Dale Chihuly; it’s a total sensory overload in the best way possible.
Collection Highlights
The outdoor 'Chihuly Bridge of Glass' is a must-see, along with the ever-changing creations being made right before your eyes in the hot shop. Inside, you'll find a mix of contemporary masterpieces and historical pieces that show the crazy evolution of glass as an art form.
Visitor Information
It's right on the Tacoma waterfront, so the views are fantastic. Definitely check the schedule for live glassblowing demos—that's when the place really comes alive.
Architecture & Building
The building is famously dominated by a huge, reflective silver cone that houses the hot shop studio, creating this amazing contrast with the more modern gallery spaces and its industrial waterfront location.
