You won't find any Angkor Wat souvenirs here. Tucked away on Siem Reap's main boulevard, this museum is a defiantly modern sanctuary dedicated entirely to Cambodia's contemporary art scene. It feels more like stepping into a passionate collector's private gallery than a formal institution. The air is thick with the scent of turpentine and creative ambition, a world away from the ancient temple crowds.
Collection Highlights
The heart of the collection is the powerful work of its founder, artist Sar Serey Rotha, whose canvases pulse with symbolic figures and spiritual inquiries. Alongside his pieces, you'll discover a rotating cast of Cambodia's most exciting living painters and sculptors, their works exploring everything from urban life to Khmer identity with raw, unfiltered energy.
Visitor Information
It's easy to walk right past its unassuming facade, so keep an eye out for the sign at 63 Sivutha. Chatting with the artists who are often present is half the experience, offering a rare glimpse into their creative process.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a converted traditional Cambodian shophouse, the building is unpretentious and intimate. White walls and concrete floors create a minimalist backdrop that makes the vibrant art pop, while large windows flood the space with the soft, hazy Siem Reap light.
