Museum Bagansiapiapi Tempo Doeloe
About This Museum
People come to our little museum not just to escape the heat, but to chase a ghost—the ghost of old Bagansiapiapi. They want to understand how this quiet town was once a roaring 'Kota Ikan', one of the biggest fishing ports in the world. Inside, you'll find yourself walking through a timeline of struggle and splendor, pieced together from the community's own family albums and heirlooms. It feels less like a formal exhibit and more like flipping through your grandfather's most treasured scrapbook.
Collection Highlights
The scale model of the old fish auction market is a real showstopper, showing just how bustling this place was. Don't miss the black and white photos of the legendary 'Bakar Tongkang' festival from decades past, or the traditional fishing boat models that show the incredible craftsmanship of local boat builders.
Visitor Information
It's tucked away on Jalan Siakap in Bagan Timur, so just ask any local for directions—they'll know it. The place isn't huge, so you can easily soak it all up in an hour or so.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a simple, unassuming building that feels more like a well-kept community hall than a grand museum, which honestly adds to its authentic charm.
