Museo L. Edmundo Martìnez Mera
About This Museum
Tucked away on a quiet street in the heart of Ambato, I stumbled upon the Museo L. Edmundo Martínez Mera almost by accident, and what a wonderful discovery it was. This isn't some vast, intimidating institution; it feels more like stepping into the personal sanctuary of an artist. The air is calm and carries that distinct, gentle scent of old wood and oil paint. You get an immediate sense of the man's passion and dedication just from the atmosphere.
Collection Highlights
The walls are lined with Martínez Mera's own powerful portraits and lush landscapes that capture the soul of Ecuador. I was completely drawn into a series of his sketches that felt incredibly intimate, like looking right into his creative process. They also have a fascinating display of antique radios and phonographs, a quirky and delightful contrast to the artwork.
