Museo de la Revolucion
About This Museum
People travel to this remote mountain town not just for the cool, fresh air, but to understand the heart of El Salvador's recent history. The museum sits on what was once an FMLN guerrilla stronghold, and the experience is raw and deeply moving. You'll walk past a collection of rusted weaponry and peer into recreated camps, but it's the personal stories—told through faded photographs and handwritten letters—that truly bring the conflict's human cost to life. It’s a powerful, unvarnished look at a civil war that shaped the nation.
Collection Highlights
A captured Salvadoran Air Force helicopter sits on the lawn, while inside you'll find Radio Venceremos' clandestine broadcast equipment and poignant exhibits on wartime life and loss.
Visitor Information
It's a bit of a journey up into the Morazán department, but well worth the trip. The guides are often former combatants who share incredible firsthand accounts.
Architecture & Building
The complex is a series of simple, rustic buildings tucked into the hillside, blending with the environment much like the guerrilla camps it commemorates.
